Pan American Referee Course
Mexico City, March 21-23, 2009

JJIF - PAN AMERICAN UNION REFEREE COMMITTEE

ACTIVITY REPORT FOR 2009 PAN AMERICAN REFEREE COURSE
By: Michael Piaser, Director of JJPAU Referee Committee
Theo Roncken, Vice-Director of JJPAU Referee Committee

On March 21-23, 2009, a Pan-American Referee course was held in Mexico City. The course was taught by Michael Piaser and Theo Roncken. The course was held in Spanish and English, making use of the Japanese technical terminology.

Twenty-six people from four countries (Mexico, Colombia, Bolivia, USA) attended the course. The course was performed in the format recommended by the JJIF and included reviewing the rules for the fighting and duo systems and much on the floor practice.

At the end of the course, a Continental Referee exam was given (in English). After careful review of the written exam and practical exam results, four persons were awarded a Continental B license.

Javier Muoz Carrillo, Colombia
Wilson Alzate Cortes, Colombia
Alfredo Snchez Snchez, Mexico
Adolfo Trejo Castorena, Mexico

Joe Santocildes, JJIF World B Referee and member of the USJJF Referee Committee also attended as a refresher course.

The course was held hosted by Sensei Hernandez at the Mexican Jujitsu Federation and was the result of meetings held during November 2008 in Mexico City. It was excellent preparations for a Pan American Championship!
